bedTip Number 1 – A good night’s sleep

As we all know nothing beats the comfort of your own bed after a long day. Finding the right bed and mattress combination is an essential part of making your new bedroom a haven to relax in. But the huge array of choices can be bewildering.

The most important function of a bed is making sure you get a good night’s sleep. To help ensure this, then complete your chosen bed with a luxurious mattress either a pocket sprung, open coil or for extra comfort a memory foam mattress.

Whether you’re looking for something that gives you more storage options, or just a bed that makes a bold style statement, there are a wide range of divans, bedsteads and frames to choose from to help you find that comfort you need.

Explore bedding ranges and styles to add that extra luxurious finish to your bed. Select from silk, cotton, polyester and velvet styles, there is a huge range. You could even add a pair curtains to complete the look of the room!

But before you go shopping for your new bed, here are a few general points to consider.

  1. Type – what sort of style do you prefer? What do you like or dislike about your current bed? Do you prefer a firmer or softer feel?
  2. Size – being disturbed by a sleeping partner is one of the most common complaints for couples. With a larger bed this is far less likely to happen. A good test to make sure the bed you’re planning to buy is the right size is that you should be able to lie side by side with your arms behind your head and elbows out without touching.
  3. Check dimensions – always check the measurements of your room before you purchase your new bed to ensure a correct fit. A bed is a dominating feature of the room, but there’s a big difference between making a style statement and cramping your space!
  4. Price – you will be spending on average around 3000 hours a year in bed – the equivalent of over 120 full days! As such, it’s important that you spend wisely and make sure you prioritise your spending on what’s most important to you – comfort or style?

All that’s left to do now is to explore all the options and find out exactly what’s right for you! But remember, don’t make a hasty decision you could later regret – you’ve got to spend nearly a third of the year in your new bed, and getting it wrong could end up giving you sleepless nights!
