1. What is www.new-homes.co.uk?

New-homes is a consumer search engine for locating New Build Homes in the United Kingdom; England, Scotland and Wales. New-homes is a joint project between the House Builders Federation and the New Homes Marketing Board. Supported by the majority of the HBF members new-homes.co.uk gives you access to up to 15,000 New Homes.

2. How do I search for a New Home?

You can search for a New Home in a number of ways:

  • Search by location, insert the county, town or the postcode of the area you wish to move to and press go. Any available developments will be listed. You can refine your search by property type or search for new homes within a radius of the postcode you enter.
  • Search by bedrooms, select the number of bedrooms you require and click go. The search results will show all developments in all locations with the matching number of bedrooms.
  • Search by price, select a price range and click go. The search results will display all the developments within the price range you have selected.
  • Narrow your search results search using all three criteria (location, bedrooms & price). The search results will display all developments in your desired location with the selected number of bedrooms and within the price range you requested.

3. What is My New-homes?

My New-homes is your personal filing cabinet. On registration/log-in, you can save your favourite homes to your personal filing cabinet and return to them at any time.

4. What Information Do I have to Supply?

When registering for My New-homes we ask for a User Name and Password, email address (to email forgotten passwords), and current postcode (first 4 letters/digits). The registration is quick, easy and the information you supply will only be used in its aggregate form, i.e. none of your personally identifiable information will be passed on to any 3rd party. 5. I want to use My New-Homes but don't have an email address, what do I do?

If you don't have an email address it is very simple to quickly set one up. The most common FREE web based email accounts are Hotmail and Yahoo simply click on one of these links and follow the instructions. You should be able to set up an email account in about 5 minutes.

6. I've forgotten my password, what do I do?

If you have forgotten your password simply click on the My New-Homes button (on the navigation bar) and enter your user name in the forgotten password box, your log-in details will then be emailed to you at the address supplied.

7. I've found the perfect New Home on the site, how do I find more information?

The new-homes site is like any other search engine in that it provides a link to individual web sites. When you have found the ideal New Home simply click on the 'More Info' link and you will be taken to the House Builders web site. Depending on the information supplied by the House Builder this will either be directly to the specific development page or to the home page of their web site.

8. How Secure is my information?

www.new-homes.co.uk takes every reasonable precaution to secure your information, please see Privacy Policy. It remains your responsibility to keep your individual user name and password secure.

9. How often does New-homes update its information?

New-homes has a strict policy with all of our House Builders to update their information as and when their properties are available. New-homes aims to ensure that only relevant, up-to-date information is available on the site, but we are not responsible for the information displayed. 10. What type of home builders can I find on New-homes?

11. How can I find which House Builders are on the New-homes site?

The Home Builders Directory section of the site has a complete list of all home builders participating in the new-homes web site. Here you will find their company name, sales telephone number, email and web site address (if available). These House Builders may not have prospective houses listed on the site so it is always worth emailing them regarding any future developments.

12. Is New-homes.co.uk an Estate Agent?

No. new-homes.co.uk is simply a search engine to allowing you access to details on new build properties quickly and easily. All the House Builders found on the New-homes site are members of the HBF but are wholly independent of www.new-homes.co.uk and none receive any special treatment.

13. How can I refine my search within a particular radius?

You can only refine your search within a specific radius of a postcode. This means that you must type in a valid first half or full postcode in the location search box and click on go. Once you've done this you may refine your search by selecting a radius from the drop down box. This will provide an average radius. Please be aware that you can only use the radius search if you have searched using a postcode.

14. I can't seem to find any overseas properties for sale.

new-homes.co.uk does not feature any overseas developers, it is purely for brand new homes in the UK. You might want to try the local chamber of commerce or tourist board for details of sites that sell property overseas.

15. I will be looking to buy a new home in and around Glasgow in the next 12 months. Your website is great for finding developments that have been released. How do I find out about them as soon as they are released?

new-homes.co.uk features an email update facility, whereby you can register your interest in certain types of developments, and the area. Once developments are uploaded to new-homes.co.uk that meet your criteria, an email will then be sent informing you. The only other alternative would be to speak directly to developers to find out what they are building or to monitor planning applications at the local authority to see when permission was granted and then approach the developer.

16. Does www.new-homes.co.uk show which properties are off plan?

new-homes.co.uk is a property portal which enables you to search for developments and then go straight to the developer. The site does not feature details on off plan developments but if you want to be informed as soon as development goes onto the site, register for email updates. Developments matching your criteria will be emailed to you the moment they are on the website.

17. Can I search and see what developers are offering incentives at the moment such as 5% deposit paid?

new-homes.co.uk does not offer this information. You will need to contact the developer directly. You can do this by accessing the Home Builders Directory section of the site and clicking on the developer you are interested in.

18. Can I search for areas of London eg. Clerkenwell, Hackney, Islington or other sub areas such as Tilehurst, Reading or Solihull, Birmingham?

Because the new-homes.co.uk database relies on the information provided by the developers, some refer to the area and others do not, preferring their marketing branding of the development's location. It is always best to search on the postcode or the general town name.

19. I am looking for retirement bungalows and homes but can't seem to select this as a property type on the site.

The site does not feature a specific bungalow search but if you click ‘retirement only' when searching it will bring up all retirement homes in your area and will highlight any bungalows in the search.

If you click through to our press room on the home page or go directly to www.new-homes.co.uk/press you will find a host of information such as recent press releases, fact sheets and images for your use.

21. I am interested in a specific development, can you give me more information please?

Yes! The best way to do this is to get the developer to contact you. When you have got a list of what the specific developer is building and have chosen the development interested in, click on ‘contact me' and you can arrange for the developer to call you and to send you a brochure if you wish.

22. I am moving from Manchester to London, do you have any advice on what I need to consider when relocating?

I see that your website lists only brand new home. What are the advantages to buying brand new rather than a second hand home?

There are many advantages to buying a brand new home, some of the reasons are:

  • New-homes are four more times energy efficient than their Victorian equivalents
  • You have a 10 year warranty with a new home
  • You can save a lot of money on not having to redecorate over old wallpaper and refit rooms such as kitchens for example – you have a blank canvass
  • Many new homes today feature up to date technology cables, making it easy for you to have your furniture and IT such as computers wherever you want

If you send an email to new-homes@sqnsolutions.com and give your address, an information pack will be sent out to you. In addition, if you go to the home page and click on ‘advertise your developments' and you can find out more information about the site and also request information.
