Celebrating the successes of companies that support aspirational homebuyers onto the housing ladder, hundreds gathered at the First Time Buyer Readers’ Awards at The Waldorf Hilton Hotel in London last Friday. From house builders to mortgage lenders as well as legal companies and all who go the extra mile for first time buyers, the industry celebrated in style as the best in the business were crowned with their rightful glory.

Now in its seventh year, the First Time Buyer team received hundreds of entries from companies across the country, all who support hopeful homebuyers during the homebuying process. Following a grueling shortlisting process from a panel of professional judges, a handful of companies were then put forward into a deciding vote from the readers of First Time Buyer Magazine.

The event was hosted by television presenter and property expert Nicki Chapman, who presented winners across 15 award categories with their award, also recognising those highly commended.

Lynda Clark, editor of First Time Buyer Magazine comments: “Once again we are delighted to have celebrated the outstanding work that is being done by so many companies and individuals to give first time buyers a helpful boost onto the housing ladder. The awards are always a highlight of my year as they remind me of the great lengths that many companies go to in order to support those just starting out on their homebuying journey, a time when most help is required.

“Buying a first property can not only a daunting experience but as many will find, the lowest rung of the ladder can also the most financially difficult – especially for those without any help from the bank of mum and dad.  The awards are a celebration of those who go that extra mile to help less experienced buyers into a home of their own and my congratulations goes to everyone involved.”

This year three new categories were added to the lineup; including Best Property Supplement (won by Metro), Best Online Property Portal (won by Zoopla) and Best Mortgage Lender (won by Nationwide Building Society.)
